This place is also called ‘Arbudaranya‘. Because it got its name after the snake god. According to ancient legends, the Nagdevata came down this hill to protect Lord Shiva’s holy bull Nandi. This name was later changed to ‘Abu Parvat’ or ‘Mount Abu’. Historically this place was settled by Gujjars or Gujjars. Their association is visible in the scriptures and inscriptions found in this area.

By Road: The city is easily accessible by regular bus and taxi services to Mount Abu. And bus services are available from many major Indian cities like Udaipur, New Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and Ahmedabad to Mount Abu. The frequency of buses varies from daily to weekly according to the rush of passengers. Bus fare depends on the amenities and comfort of the bus.

By Train: You can reach Mount Abu by rail. Where the nearest railway station is Abu Road city. Which is about 15 km from Mount Abu. Abu Road station is located on the main rail route connecting the two major metropolitan cities of Mumbai and New Delhi.

Rail service is available from here to many major cities like New Delhi, Dehradun, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai and Trivandrum.

By Air: To reach Mount Abu by air, you have to take a flight to Udaipur. Which is the nearest airport to Mount Abu. Udaipur airport is about 185 km from this city.
