1. About For Meenakshi Temple

Also known as Meenakshi Temple. The site is the same. where Goddess Parvati (Meenakshi) and Lord Shiva (Sundareshwar) forged an alliance.

Meenakshi Temple is the oldest temple located in the city of Madurai in Tamil Nadu. This temple is more than 2600 years old.

This temple is as old as the city situated on the southern of the Vaigai River. Meenakshi Temple is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva.

This temple is also known as Meenakshi Sundareswarar. In a way the architecture and style of this temple.  That it was counted among the 'seven wonders of the world'.

5. Sundareswarar to temple

During the event, a chariot pulls a picture of Sundareswarar to Meenakshi's temple. After then, a puja is performed when the wife of the Lord takes his golden feet out of the temple.

The temple is open from 5:00 AM to 12.30 PM, 4:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

By the way devotees visit the temple during the month of April. But the best time to visit the temple is considered to be the month between December to February.

You can get a bus from Periyar to reach the temple. From there it is 1.3 km away from the temple. Taxis and autos are available to reach the temple.
